Evel Knievel's last bike and 'Batcycle' up for auction

An auction due to take place on Saturday in North Palm Beach, Florida will feature the last motorcycle owned by Evel Knievel before his death in 2007, as well as a range of other motorcycles including a replica ‘Batcycle’ from the 1960s ‘Batman’ tv series.

The Knievel bike, a 2005 Harley-Davidson Screaming Eagle Custom V-Rod, is custom embroidered and painted with the daredevil’s initials, as well as keeping his personalised Montana numberplate, ‘EVEL2.’ The estimate price is $40-60,000 (approx. £25-37,000).

Also featured is a ‘Batcycle’ used to film the 1967 ‘Batman’ movie. The bike, based on a 750cc Yamaha, is being sold as a joint lot with the now-famous Batmobile, also used for movie and television filming in the cult classic show starring Adam West. The estimate price is $125-175,000 (£80-110,000).

A number of classic American motorcycles are also for sale, such as a 1947 Harley-Davison WL and a 1946 Indian Chief and sidecar.

The auction, ran by RM Auctions, is a liquidation of the Cars of Dream Museum in North Palm Beach, a collection of American automotive history amassed by owner John Staluppi over the past forty years.

The auction also has a collection of Americana valued at upwards of $1million, as well as a vertible history of American muscle cars, featuring everything from 1930s custom hod rods up to a 2011 NASCAR race car and Ford Mustang.
