All test cheats are drivers

Hundreds of learner drivers a year get someone else to take their test for them while not one motorcyclist attempts the scam, government figures show.

Suspected impersonators sat 455 practical tests and 1469 theory tests in 2011/12 – an average of five a day – but all of the cheats were drivers.

A Driving Standards Agency spokeswoman said: ‘I can confirm that the number of practical and theory motorcycle tests that involved a suspected impersonator in 2011/12 was nil.

‘We haven’t done any analysis into why there have been no fraudulent motorcycle tests and would not be able to comment on the reasons why.’

A spokeswoman for the Motorcycle Industry Association said: ‘Motorcyclists are just decent sorts.’
