Success for Triumph Explorer in RiDER Power survey

The great British biking public have voted, and now the results are in: the winner of RiDER Power 2014 is the Triumph Tiger 1200 Explorer.

Owners of the big three-cylinder adventure-touring bike have given it the top score in RiDE magazine’s huge satisfaction survey.

Thousands of motorcyclists took part, rating their own bike’s performance, handling, build quality, dealer support, running costs, wind protection, rider and pillion comfort, and more. The Triumph came out top of the adventure bike class and top overall, with a score of 90.64%.

It’s the first overall win for a British-built bike since RiDER Power began 15 years ago.

The survey results are featured in the May issue of RiDE, on sale on March 19, in newsagents and online.

Editor Colin Overland said: “Every owner tells us the same things about the Explorer: it has a fantastic engine, it’s comfortable, it copes really well with a pillion and luggage, it’s reliable and it’s fast. It’s being bought by experienced riders, who are well aware of the alternatives available from Japan and Europe, so their extremely positive ratings for the Explorer speak volumes.”

It’s one of seven Triumphs in the top 50 bikes. Overall runner-up (and runner-up in the adventure class) is the Yamaha Super Tenere, followed by three BMWs: the K1600GT, R1200RT and K1300S.
