Burning sensation for Brough owner

£32,000 for a bike is a lot – you’re looking at Desmosidici RR and Honda NR750’s for that sort of money.

But a telephone bidder at the end of March decided he wanted to spend his £32K on the charred remains of a 1920’s Brough Superior SS80. The Ledbury salesroom were gob smacked when the telephone bid came through for a bike nearly destroyed in the house blaze of farmer Roy Thompson from Much Marcle in Herefordshire in December ’06.

Mr Thompson was able to speak to the winning bidder after he won the bike: “He was very pleased and I am over the moon,” said Thompson. “The bike was minus the petrol tank, minus the gearbox, minus all sorts of things.”
