Biker shot on M40

UPDATE: Police have now said that the 33 year-old motorcyclist was leaving the the Bulldog Bash, and it is thought that the shooting was not connected with events at the Bash. It is thought that the shooting is the culmination of a longer running feud. Organisers of the Bash are not available for comment at this time.

Police have issued a statement following the shooting of a motorcyclist on the southbound M40 near the Leamington Spa junction.

The statement said: “The male motorcyclist was travelling south on the M40 between junctions 12 and 13 near to the Leamington Spa junction when the incident happened at 14 20 this afternoon. The man was certified dead at the scene by paramedics. The death is being investigated as murder and detectives are appealing for information from motorists travelling on the M40 this afternoon who may have witnessed the incident.”

Detectives are also making efforts to trace a green Rover 620 car travelling close to the group motorcyclists the murdered man was travelling in.
