Harley-Davidson Nightster coming to the UK

1 of 1

Harley-Davidson’s Sportster-based Nightster is set to go on sale in the UK later this year thanks to modifications to let it pass European homologation.

Launched in America last year, the Nightster hasn’t been sold in Europe before, as it’s novel tail light arrangement would not have been legal over here.

To keep the back end clean, the Nightster combines rear lights and brake lights into the indicator units. Not a problem in America, where flashing red brake lights can be legally used as indicators, but illegal in Europe where indicators must be separate and orange.

The firm has cleverly reworked the units to keep the same benefits and yet to pass European homologation, using separate LED brakelights and tail lights hidden inside the rear indicators.

The rear ride height has also been increased to cope with our bumpier roads and to improve cornering clearance, while the original American bike’s side-mounted numberplate has been moved to the rear to meet European laws.

It’s due on sale before the end of this year at £6995.
