Hyosung reveal production GT650X

Hyosung has revealed the production version of the GT650X concept revealed at the NEC show one year ago.

The finished motorcycle uses the latest version of Hyosung’s 647cc 90° v-twin, but uses a new electronic fuel injection system to ensure it meets emissions regulations, and a new oil cooler keeps temperature more controlled.

The tubular steel/aluminium trellis frame is new and unique to the GT650X, and is matched to a new heavily braced aluminium swingarm. New lightweight aluminium five-spoke wheels with a fat 180/55 ZR17 rear tyre are also unique to the GT650X, and four-piston calipers operate on 300mm discs.

The motorcycle’s styling takes cue from streetfighter designs, with an aggressively styled headlight and nose cowling, with a sharp seat unit and small side pods on the frame completing the simple design. The instruments mix analogue and digital displays, and a low-slung stubby exhaust and LED tail light finishes off the up-to-date styling. The bike will be officially unveiled next week at the NEC show – for more information, see next weeks’ MCN, out November 21.
