‘Split engined’ bike shows how dirty standard fuel is

This is British Petroleum’s split engine R1200GS Adventure, designed to show the benefits of using advanced fuels.

One half of the engine runs on BP Ultimate and the other on ordinary fuel to demonstrate the effect different fuel’s have on a bike’s engine.

After 5,000km ride under motorway, suburban and urban conditions, BP says its Ultimate fuel left its half of the engine virtually clean, while the side filled with ordinary fuel had high levels of deposits on the intake valves.

The motorcycle will be on display on BP’s stand at this weekend’s British Superbike round at Brands Hatch.
