Harley Davidson encourage motorcyclists to care for their helmet

1 of 1

Harley Davidson is encouraging all motorcyclists to check the condition of their crash helmet, as part of a month-long safety campaign during April to promote better helmet care.

The manufacturer points out that the materials in crash helmet’s can break down over time, and that official advice states motorcyclists should replace their helmet every 3-5 years.

Advice regarding how to fit your helmet is also included in the campaign. The firm notes that there should be no space between the brow and the inner lining, and that the skin on your forehead should move slightly with the helmet.

In the case of open-face items, which many Harley riders wear, the helmet should not be able to roll forward and off the head when the chin strap is fastened.
