Bikers interested in getting out on track and joining a race series can get some help with the British Motorcycle Racing Club’s new rider support programme.

The club, also known as Bemsee, will be holding two introductory events to encourage new riders and help them get into the sport at Brands Hatch.

The first event will take place at the Kent circuit at the Kentagon Bar at 7.30pm on December 11, where riders can ask questions from how to apply for a licence to what kit to buy for the track to the organisation of a race day.

Those wishing to gain their licence can actually start the process that night as there will be ACU forms available and an ophthalmologist will be on hand to offer eye tests.

A second introductory event, the BMCRC Schoolday, also at Brands Hatch on February 21-22, features classroom sessions to help complete the ACU registration process and the Competitor Training Course that forms part of the licence application. On the Sunday new riders will get to go on track under the supervision of ACU coaches, which includes learning how to start a race. The BMCRC will also be offering inexperienced riders the chance to ‘buddy up’ with more experienced competitors.

At this weekend there will also be information packs to help them as they enter their first few meetings with the club. The cost of the weekend, including the CTC course and track time is £185, with a discount of £50 for anybody who’s already undertaken the CTC course and under 17s.

The open evening is free but you’ll need to book your place by calling 01708 720305. For further information see www.bemsee.net where you can also download a 2009 membership application form.
