Suzuki reveals all new RM-Z250

Suzuki’s new 2010 RM-Z250 will be the first bike in MX2 to have fuel injection.

Derived from its larger capacity sibling, the RM-Z450, the new 250’s battery-less fuel system boasts a 43mm throttle-body, with a progressive throttle linkage and 16-bit computer, powered by a durable, lightweight magneto-generator.

Combined with revised cam timing, uprated intake ports and a stronger connecting rod (boosting maximum engine speed to 13,500rpm), the new RM-Z offers even more power and torque than before.   

The RM-Z250’s twin-spar aluminium alloy frame has been redesigned, most notably with an increase in lower frame rail wall thickness (up from 2.5mm to 3mm), while the side rails are now shallower.

Controlling the heightened power, is a new swingarm, increasing rigidity thanks to an improved centre brace that concentrates the mass for an enhanced suspension action, offering greater traction.

It also has a new, sharper look courtesy of revised plastics which offer a slimmer feel and race-ready black number boards as standard.

The 2010 RM-Z250 will be in dealers in the autumn. The price has not been announced.
