2010 Honda CRF250R and CRF450R revealed

Honda is giving the CRF250R motocross motorcycle a complete overhaul and tweaked the CRF450R for 2010.

The CRF250R gains the fuel injection system seen on the 2009-model CRF450R with a new ignition and exhaust system to match. The system varies fuel flow and ignition timing automatically for different conditions, according to Honda. Gear ratios are revised to suit the overhauled engine, and a larger radiator keeps temperature in check. More durable pistons and valves made from a tougher material developed in MotoGP are also fitted.      

A new frame mounts the engine lower in the chassis to lower the centre of gravity, and the CRF250R gains a longer swingarm for better stability. The fork are larger in diameter which Honda claims to give a more compliant ride, and the rear shock is lighter as well as re-positioned for better mass centralisation. It will be available in the UK from October – price to be announced.

The 2010 Honda CRF450R gets new ECU programming and injection settings for better throttle response plus a new auto-decompressor system for easier kick-starting. The HRC fuel-injection tool now connects to the electronics without having to remove the tank for easier trackside adjustments, and the forks have revised valving and a higher oil volume to improve ride, according to Honda.

The rear shock has an improved piston design and a different compression adjuster.
Price is yet to be announced, first bikes will go on sale in September.
