Tiger 800 fastest-selling Triumph for a decade

The Tiger 800 has become the fastest-selling new Triumph in over a decade. The Hinckley firm shifted 700 Tiger 800s and XCs in just the first four months of 2011.

It’s a timely riposte to BMW, whose boss Hendrik von Kuenheim lays into Triumph for ‘copying’ its F800GS in this week’s MCN. In an outspoken interview he says he feels “ashamed for Triumph customers and dealers” over the bike.

Triumph says it has increased the production allocation for the UK market to cope with demand. One in five Triumphs sold so far this year have been Tiger 800s, and one in five bikes bikes over 500cc sold in the UK from any manufacturer have come from Hinckley. That makes it for the first time the country’s biggest-selling bike firm.

The Tiger 800 £7,149 (+£600 for ABS); The Tiger 800XC costs £7,749 (+£600 for ABS model).
