Easytarget has a point...
The '918' Fireblade from 98-99 suffered alot of bad press due to the arrival of the R1, I think it was MCN themselves who discounted it as a 'sports tourer' (which is bollocks).... but 15 years on there is one thing about the last of the carbed blades that can't be denied but anyone, it was a absolutly **** superbly, even beautifully engineered and built motorcycle, with very minimal care required, they don't break, they don't rust, the metal barely tarnishes, and the paint is thicker than the cast of TOWIE. In fact, as an overall large capacity sports bike it is one of the best ever made.

I've had 4 differnet models and I wish I still had my RRT, stable and lots of fun. sniff.
That said if I still had it I would sell it :)

a 2002 late model 929cc and I bloody love it. I have ridden older and newer ones but I cant fault it, it looks brand new even though its got over 15,000 on the clock. If I get a newer bike it will probably be a newer blade.

Urban tiger everyday. I'd love one as an ornament , preferable my late brothers old Urban tiger.
I may try and chase that up actually. It would look ace next to my 2012 HRC model ;)

what about 98/99
I have a 98 RRW-X last of the carb models, better suspension, brakes and a uprated engine over 97. With a bit of attention to set-up a great everyday tool, now 85K miles, and really can live with almost anything on track days (pro's on slicks yeah OK and why are you at a track day anyway?) Simple low cost service and bomb proof engineering for under 3000 squid!
