Thanks Big Ron

Thanks to Big Ron for the Toy Run. If you’ve ever been to the Ace cafe you’ll know who I am talking about.

You may not have known him by name but he was the legend that ran the forecourt at the Ace. He told you where to park up, bellowed out your bike registration if you were in the way, he made sure that everything ran like clock work.

The Ace is a busy place on Friday nights in the summer and if you had a problem, Big Ron was the man to sort it out. We’ve missed Ron being around and so it was lovely to have him back at the helm for the Toy Run at the Ace Cafe last Sunday.

He and his merry band of helper’s organism the Toy Run every year to ensure that children who visit or have to stay in Hospital at Christmas time, receive a small gift. The day was fantastic.

A great route was organised and the weather was perfect, a crisp sunshine filled winters day that enticed riders out to blow the cobwebs away.

What a sight, loads of Santa Bikers, an SV650 run by Reindeer power, a Christmas tree, bling bikes with tinsel trim, a troop of London BikeSafe Police, a flock of Unity Support Riders and a partridge in a pear tree.

It was a real feel good factor day, where everyone left with a smile and it’s thanks to the organization of Big Ron. Christmas is the season for giving and it’s important to show appreciation of people who make things happen.

Special recognition goes to the London BikeSafe Police riders who worked on their day off to ensure that the Toy Run had a safe passage through London.
