Bikers beware, they are in the air

Myself and a friend were out bright and early this sunday morning on our usual run from Beverley up to Helmsley, Whitby visiting various greasy spoons on the way as us bikers do. We then returned via Pickering, Malton, Wetwang and finally back home. The reason I’m writing is as we approached Wetwang we noticed a police helicopter circling so we obviously thought there had been an accident and slowed right down as it’s 30mph through the village.

We noticed a police car, police bikes and the usual police presence, but no accident. What we did see though were cameras, policemen giving interviews for tv while this helicopter chased bikers, including ourselves, for ten miles. A few bikers had been stopped and ticketed; even members of the public stopped when we did to say how disgusted they were, and what a waste of tax payers money it was.

I cannot believe North Yorkshire police have all this money to waste on chasing bikers for speeding with a helicopter. I wonder how much the helicopter costs an hour to run and how much they made in fines. I bet they ran at a loss. Most bikers are pretty sensible when it comes to speed and bike safety and there is a time and place for it. We only have a minority going mad on the roads and I agree they should lose their licence, but not the average bloke on a sports bike out on a sunday jolly with his pals that goes 10 mph over the speed limit on a open country road.

To sum it up. bikers beware they are in the air, wasting more money instead of chasing kids who nick cars, have no insurance and no licence and generally cause havoc in built up areas.
