F4 RR is the best MV Agusta yet!

Our world-first test of the stunning new 201bhp F4 RR Corsacorta has revealed it to be not only the fastest MV Agusta we’ve ever ridden – but also the most refined.

MCN rode the new £18k superbike at a special test on the Adria circuit, north-east of Bologna, Italy and can reveal that, thanks to the RR’s new Ohlins suspension and lightweight wheels which deliver a plush, controlled ride and fast steering, the new RR is a joy to ride around a track.

The new short-stroke engine is friendly, too. It has an extra 15bhp over the standard F4 and produces a claimed 201bhp. That makes the RR the most powerful superbike you can buy, just pipping the new ZX-10R’s 200.1bhp – how convenient!

These vital statistics should give the power delivery an ‘all or nothing’ nature, but it’s surprisingly tractable, thanks to its new ECU, fuel injection system and the electronically-controlled variable-length inlet trumpets, also seen on the Aprilia RSV4 Factory APRC and Yamaha R6 and R1. The motor’s flexibility should make the MV pretty decent on the road, where you spend most of your time with the needle resting lower down the analogue rev-counter.

The MV isn’t quite up there with the best of its rivals, if you’re nit-picking, which is what we have to do in a road test, but it’s still a phenomenal machine and one I loved riding. Compared with the cramped, slightly angry and snatchy F4s of the past, the RR is a revelation.
