Stylmartin, Red Rock boots, £169
Time tested: Four months/2000 miles
What’s good? The Red Rock boots are exactly what I was after. They’re lightweight summer boots for riding that also double up as everyday footwear. I can ride to see my mates and go out in these without changing. They don’t look like bike boots, are casual and don a faded look, which I like. They’re full-grain leather, waterproof and breathable, have a Vibram anti-slip rubber sole and a comfy padded collar around the ankle.
What’s not? It’s a shame they don’t offer more protection, especially for the ankle. If they came up a bit higher it would have made them the perfect summer boot. Also, the leather scratches very easily. I don’t mind this as I prefer the faded look, but not everyone will like them looking so worn so soon.
