HJC RPHA10+ helmet, £429.99
Time used: Two months/ 1500 miles
What’s good? The comfort is superb, giving a reassuringly close fit without causing any pressure points and keeping neck strain at bay thanks to its light weight of just over 1300grams. Those who’ve already used the RPHA10 will appreciate this comfort already, as the Plus model fits the same. But the lining attaches in place more securely than the base RPHA’s lining, which never wanted to stay in place once it had been removed and refitted. It also benefits from a Pinlock Maxvision visor insert that covers a wider area so it impedes the rider’s vision less. It’s also good that paintschemes other than this lairy Lorenzo replica are available, for up to £100 less.
What’s not? The RPHA10 scored three stars out of a possible five in the UK Government’s Sharp impact tests and I see no reason why the Plus would get more. That’s good enough for me to wear, but not good enough for me to award it top marks in MCN.
