Davida Jet TT helmet, £265
Time Tested: Three months, 2000 miles
What’s good? The Davida looks good and performs well. I wanted an open-face lid for riding a Harley along 1000 miles of Route 66 followed by another 800 miles up the Pacific Coast Highway. And the Davida fitted the bill perfectly. With so many different colourschemes, I was spoilt for choice. I went for the black with yellow stripe and loved the look of the British-made helmet. The padding is fantastic and although it did get a little hot riding across Arizona, there was very little wind noise and it was extremely comfortable. It comes with an ACU Gold stamp for race use and is ECE 22.05 approved for road riding.
What’s not? I am normally a size 58, but on advice from Davida I ordered a 60. And it was still a tight fit. Once I’d worn it for a while it was a good fit but I would not have wanted it any more snug. And I could only just fit a pair of shades under the padding. I’ve worn the lid a little since returning from the States and have found it just as user-friendly at slightly lower temperatures!
