Over 200 Pirelli riders were treated to an action-packed day of free track-time, a display of the new BMW1000RR and a special Q+A interview session with top BSB stars including James Ellison at Oulton Park, this Wednesday.

Some riders travelled from great distances to utilise this great opportunity for a free track-day and test their tyres in both wet and dry conditions at Oulton Park, a circuit chosen for its testing and exciting nature.

Riders were also entered into a free draw to win a set of Pirelli tyres, a pair of VIP passes to the Oulton Park final BSB round and a host of other substantial prizes.

Pirelli used their close links with the MCE British Superbike series to line-up Airwaves Yamaha ace James Ellison along with Gary Mason (Quay Garage Honda), Relentless by TAS Suzuki’s Alastair Seeley and MAP Raceways Yamaha riders Billy MacConnell and AJ Venter.

The riders mingled with the fans and took part in an extended interview and signing session with BSB commentator Larry Carter.

Ellison commented, “Mixed conditions out there today but great to just be able to wander around and chat to the riders.

“People sometimes forget that I first rode on Pirelli tyres when I won the Privateer Cup so I’ve had a long and happy relationship with the company.”

The radical new BMW1000RR was put through its paces by ex-superbike star and current Pirelli employee, Iain Duffus, with the bike fitted with the latest Pirelli Diablo Super Corsa ‘BSB’ road tyres.

Fans were intrigued to see and hear how this rarely seen machine fared.

In addition to the BMW Superbike and BSB riders, other attractions included the high-spec Airwaves British Superbike of James Ellison and MAP Raceways Supersport Yamaha,   trackside competitions, action photography, several trade stalls and Pirelli experts on hand with full technical support.

Pirelli is the sole tyre supplier for both the British Superbike and Supersport classes with teams, riders and the media all impressed with the quality and consistency of the tyres, which have lead to fairer, closer racing.

Gianmarco Spigolon, Pirelli Director summed up, “It is great to be able to give something back to our Pirelli users and I think everyone had a great time despite the weather!

“I can’t thank the riders and teams enough for giving up their time and we will of course try and put on this type of event whenever we can.”
