How to scrub in your tyres

1 of 1

In a word ‘gently’. When the tyre comes out of the mould there are release agents that need to be removed before the rubber performs at its optimum.

To do that you need to get some heat into the rubber with gentle cornering on both sides of the tyre and use gradual throttle openings. No burn outs please, although gradually increasing circles in a large empty car park will speed up the process.

It’s sudden changes of direction, of throttle or brakes that can tip you on your ear in the first 20-30 miles. So be gentle.
