Best tyres for a Kawasaki GTR1400

Q. I have been on a GSX-R1000 for the past two years, but now as my wife wants to travel further afield we are changing to a Kawasaki GTR1400.

Which tyres can I fit to get the most grip and feel? I’m not really worried about tyre life.

A. Big bikes like the GTR are fussy about the sort of rubber they wear. Bridgestones were OE on the bike with modified 021s, now they’ve approved the new 023s with a specific pairing of a 023GT on the front and a standard 023 on the rear.

They should be more than grippy enough for your needs, with good mileage and wet weather performance too. The Ron Haslam Race School CBR600s at Silverstone even wear 023s.
