McGuinness to miss Oz WSS round

John McGuinness has been withdrawn from the Australian round of the World Supersport series because he is not recovering fast enough from the shoulder injury he recently suffered.

McGuinness struggled at Valencia at the weekend. It was clear his shoulder had not healed properly after he high-sided a VFR800 road bike filming a promotional video last month.

Team boss Roger Harvey said: ” John didn’t and wouldn’t say a word but we had to make the decision for him because he is just not fit enough to race in Australia.

” He gritted his teeth in Spain and got on with it but it was obvious he was in a lot of discomfort when he finished the race. We would rather he took some time to get fit in time for Kyalami on April 7 than go to Australia for March 24. ”

McGuinness’s team-mate Karl Muggeridge will still make the trip to his home round at Phillip Island.
