Double delight for Bayliss Down Under

1 of 1

A command performance in front of his home fans saw Troy Bayliss take both WSB wins today in Phillip Island.

Race two was a carbon copy of the first with the defending champion holding off Honda’s Colin Edwards to take the flag. Bayliss’ Infostrada Ducati teammate Ruben Xaus was third in both races.

Afterwards Bayliss said ” I knew I’d go well here since testing was so good here, but to do the double in frontt of my home crowd is beyond my wildest dreams. ”

Edwards joked: ” We’re all just getting sick of seeing Troy up there on the top step of the podium. The greedy bastard needs to share the glory around a bit! ” Britain’s Neil Hodgson was just pipped by Ben Bostrom for fourth place in the first race, but the HM Plant rider held off the American to take it in the second.

Hodgson told MCN; ” To be honest that fourth felt as good as a win – there was no way I was going to let Bostrom do me for the line again. ”

James Toseland finished 8th and 7th, while ChrisWalker finished both races in 9th and Mark Heckles scored 2 series points with his 14th in race two.

Noriyuki Haga pulled out of race one with a persistent brake problem.
