5. Biggest under-achievers

There’s no denying Chris Walker and the Motorpoint Yamaha team failed to live up to the promise shown in testing.

Apart from a solitary third place in the second Donington race Walker never really showed the kind of pace that everyone expected.

No one pushed harder than Walker, no one was more difficult to pass, but the problem was neither he nor the team got the best out of the new crossplane crank R1 and it wasn’t until the season was over when James Ellison tested the bike, that Rob McElnea’s crew learned the error of their ways.
