Camier aiming to spend holiday in WSB paddock

Leon Camier admitted during the weekend that he’s off to Italy and Germany ‘on holiday’ this week.

Not surprising perhaps he’s chosen to take a holiday the same weekend of the WSB race at the Nurburgring.

The Airwaves Yamaha rider has dominated BSB this year but either he’s playing his cards very closely to his chest – or the transfer market has stalled until Ben Spies makes his move – because Camier reckons he has no real clue where he’s likely to end up in 2010.

“I’m not ruling anything out at this stage,” he told MCN. “I want to go to WSB but it’s got to be with the right team.”

In an ideal world for Camier, the right team would include a crew chief of his choosing – or even better the entire GSE racing outfit.

He said: “I know from personal experience how important it is to have someone in your corner you know and who understands you. It’s cuts the learning process right down.

“When I first joined GSE and rode the brand new (1098) Ducati last year Frankie Carchedi played a big role in helping me out – and how Colin Wright (GSE Racing team boss) had the team set-up.

“We never changed anything on the bike until I had learned how to ride it and it still took three or four meetings to get into it.

“So going to WSB it would be an ideal scenario to take Frankie with me. Actually the real ideal would be to go with GSE Racing.

“Colin runs such a perfect team, if we could switch to WSB and have factory bikes I’d say we’d go with the aim of winning the title in our first year.. The team certainly has the credentials to do that.”
