BSB Blog: Easton fastest in final day of Spanish testing

1 of 1

Stuart Easton and James Ellison topped the leaderboard on the final day of BSB testing at Guadix, Spain.

The Swan Honda pair were separated by less than a tenth of a second after dominating the final day.

Josh Brookes missed the final day of testing along with his HM Plant Honda team-mate Ryuichi Kiyonari but his 1:13.6 was still good enough for third overall.

Most expected times to tumble on the third and final day of the test. The weather was marginally warmer than the previous two days and forecast showers never materialised but the lap times never reached record pace as hoped.

Tommy Hill was unable to make the most of the good conditions on the final day, his Worx Suzuki thwarted by a series of electronics gremlins.

He still clocked a 1:13.8 late in the afternoon but felt he was capable of more with a clear run on track.

Teammate Yukio Kagayama finished just a tenth ahead of Kiyonari’s best time of 1:41 but was suffering from the after effects of his Cartegana crash.

Despite thinking he may have a cracked rib, Yuki managed a run of 13 laps late in the afternoon to clock his 1:14.0.

Michael Rutter and Martin Jessop leap-frogged up the leaderboard on their Riders Ducatis.

Rutter concentrating for the most of the test on his electronics while Jessopp was trying to curb his high corner entry and concentrate more on mid-corner speed.

MSS Colchester Kawasaki riders were slightly off the pace but then they had less track time than their BSB rivals.

Simon Andrews concentrated on getting his ZX-10R electronics set up while Gary Mason spent all day fine-tuning his chassis set-up.
