Padgett’s are back in BSB having signed Italian Luca Scassa and the overlooked Ian Lowry to ride their Hondas.

Scassa comes to BSB for the first time after finishing fifth in last year’s World Supersport championship, winning three of the races.

He told MCN: “I’m looking forward to racing in BSB. It’s at a high level. The bikes are fast. The riders are good and there are a lot of experienced teams and riders in BSB.

“Clive (Padgett – team boss) was so excited when he was telling me about my bike, the team. So much passion and they are top team whatever class they race in.”

For Lowry it’s a chance to rebuild his career. He finished fifth in his rookie season of BSB in 2009 but has battled through two desperate seasons of deals not living up to promise and bikes not as competitive as he had hoped.

Lowry said:  “What Clive and the Padgett’s team has achieved in racing is fantastic. I like the team, the family environment and Clive’s the most enthusiastic person in motorcycle racing. What’s really fantastic is that he wanted me to ride for him.”

Clive Padgett added: “I’ve signed Scassa because I like his approach, love his passion and can’t dispute his results.  And Ian is an almost forgotten man and deserves a chance to re-establish himself after two very difficult years.”
