Knockhill BSB: Byrne continues Scottish domination

1 of 1

Shane Byrne has continued his Scottish domination this weekend, easily taking the second race of the day at Knockhill from Tyco Suzuki’s Josh Brookes.

The leading group were able to make a gap on the chasing pack after a first lap crash that saw James Ellison go down and Michael Rutter get collected in the ensuring chaos.

Byrne, who had led from the star, was then able to knock out consistent laps to pull a big lead over second placed Josh Brookes. Third was decided when a newly-resurgent Kiyonari was able to catch and pass Alex Lowes for his second podium of the day.

Brookes put in a big push with 5 laps remaining to attempt to catch Byrne, but despite a fastest lap of the race was unable to pull in enough of the gap.

Byrne said “I settled into a rhythym early in the race, concentrating on setting 48″ laps, which allowed me to pull away a bit. Josh started to close in on me with 10 laps to go but at that point it would have taken a hell of an effort to catch me.”
