Hutchinson thown lifeline in FFX Yamaha

Isle of Man TT legend Ian Hutchinson, after looking set to miss most of 2014, has been thrown an eleventh hour lifeline, and will instead be racing in the MCE British Superbike Championship as part of an all-new Yamaha team.

The new FFX Yamaha team will be led by the highly experienced Gary Ekerold, whose Northpoint Nokia team took Cal Crutchlow to the 2006 British Supersport title.

However, Hutchinson won’t be walking away from his Milwaukee team, either, with the new squad being formed as a satellite team by boss Shaun Muir, who has brought in his former team manager Ekerold to run it.

Hutchinson told MCN “Riding in BSB is an opportunity I’ve always wanted, but I didn’t want to just be doing a few rounds. I’ve left all the TT stuff to the team, but in the meantime I’ve got something to focus all my efforts on.”
