Triumph Young Guns gets backing from Frankie Chili

1 of 1

Triumph Young Guns, the talent scout scheme, launched earlier this month, has confirmed racing legend Pierfrancesco ‘Frankie’ Chili as one of its judges and mentors.

Chili made 276 World Superbike starts over a span of 12 years, securing 17 wins and an impressive 61 podium finishes before his retirement in 2006. Since then, Frankie has focused on a media career and his role as a race team manager.

His new role as a judge for the Hinckley firm’s Young Guns initiative dovetails with his support for the Triumph Triple Challenge (TTC), which has appointed him as official race series Ambassador and Grand Marshal for the 2011 season.

Applicants to the Young Guns Academy will be assessed by a panel of judges including Chili, MCN’s Marc Potter, MSVR, TTC’s Tony Scott and senior management from Triumph.

As part of the selection and mentoring, a number of tailored training sessions will take place over the year, focusing on issues such as personal fitness, racecraft and marketing/promotion.

Triumph Young Guns is open to all 15 to 23 year old ACU licence holders.
Riders need to apply in writing on the Triumph Motorcycles website before Friday May 6. Ten riders will be selected and coached throughout 2011 culminating at the final round of the MCE British Superbike Championship at Brands Hatch on October 7-9 2011.

Three chosen finalists will take part in the last Metzeler National Superstock 600 races of the year and the overall winner of Triumph Young Guns 2011, who receives a seasons factory backed ride in the 2012 Triumph Triple challenge, will be chosen based on their conduct over the year and their performance at Brands Hatch.
