Valentino Rossi's World Rally success

Valentino Rossi won his first car racing title on Sunday – before going on to say that we can probably expect to see more.

The Italian MotoGP star won the glitzy Italian Monza Rally, and went a step better than last year’s second overall in the event with the win. This included a clean sweep of five special stages on the first day in a field that included former rally world champions.

And following the rally, Rossi admitted that he feels is it likely he will try a full-time career in the sport when he decides to quit bikes.

He has already lined up a test on snow stages early next year, and also said he will again race the punishing British Rally at the end of 2007 – the same event he made his inauspicious WRC debut in 2002 when he crashed out after just a few miles.

Until last week’s New Zealand Rally, it was his only world championship rally experience.
