Martin praises Foggy

Steve Martin has revealed that switching to the DFX Honda CBR1000RR has been harder than expected after riding the FP1 for the Foggy Petronas team. After two years on the 900cc triple Martin is learning to ride a 1000cc four cylinder for the first time in his career. Speaking to MCN from Valencia he said:

“The FP1 was a sweet handling bike and over the two years we got it to fit me like a glove. When I first rode the Honda the biggest difference was the way it handled and I realised just how much I’d got accustomed to the FP1.

“The Honda has got more of everything and it’s just more brutal but I guess the biggest difference between the Honda and the FP1 is that the Honda is reliable.

“We haven’t had any mechanical problems at all and it’s taken me a little while to get my head around that.”

Despite the lack of results during his two years with the British team, Martin claims he has no need or desire to criticise the disappointing FoggyPetronas project. He

“I’m out of contract with FoggyPetronas but anyone expecting me to slag the team off are going to be disappointed. They were the best team I’ve ever worked with and it’s disappointing we couldn’t continue this year.”
