Coghlan joins UK 125 class

Kev Coghlan has joined UK Racing for this year’s British 125GP Championship season.

A last minute deal re-unites the 18-year-old with the team he last with in 2005 and subsequently earned a place in the the prestigious MotoGP Academy for 2006.

Fresh from a year racing in Spain, Coghlan from Murthly in Perthshire returns to the British Championship intent on securing victory for the UK1 Racing team.

He said: “I am really glad to be back with UK1 Racing. The team are very professional and great to work with. I was leading the championship in 2005 until I got injured and I would just love to come back and win the title for the team this season.”

Coghlan joins talented youngsters Deane Brown and Connor Behan in the three-rider UK1 Racing line-up.

Former British Superbike Champion Niall Mackenzie is mentor to the team this year. He said: “Kev is a talented rider and I have no doubt that he is capable of winning the championship. I think his experience and skill will also have a positive effect on the team’s younger riders too and help them to progress.”

The team will start testing at the end of February in Cartagena, Spain.
