Toseland again

James Toseland will be the final rider to head out on to his Superpole lap this afternoon (1pm UK time) after setting provisional pole position with a lap time over two tenths quicker than his nearest rival.

Back on his number one bike after a technical problem yesterday, Toseland set a 1m 58.681s on board his Ten Kate Honda on his very last lap of the one hour session.

Second place went to Australian Troy Corser who looked as smooth as ever on his Yamaha Italia R1 and was able to get the better of his team-mate Noriyuki Haga by just 0.3 of a second who ended the session in third.

The top three men were the only riders in the 1m58s bracket, with Ducati man Lorenzo Lanzi upstaging his team-mate Troy Bayliss once again by securing fourth place.

Max Biaggi was unable to improve on his lap time from yesterday and slipped to fifth, but once again was one of the most consistent riders of the session.

Yukio Kagayama leap froged Troy Bayliss on the time sheets to go sixth and like Biaggi looks to have impressive race pace.

Bayliss appears to be struggling to get the same feel from his bike and tyres as he managed in testing and was unable to improve on yesterday’s time, but still set a string of consistent fast laps at the end of the session.

The surprise package of the second day was German Max Neukirchner who went eighth fastest onboard last years Alstare Engineering Suzuki GSXR-1000 K6 to finish ahead of factory supported riders Fonsi Nieto and Robby Rolfo.
