Jones makes top five in FP1

Britain’s Craig Jones proved his wet weather riding ability by posting the fifth fastest time in this morning’s World Supersport free practice (Friday, March 30, 2007).

Jones tackled the difficult soggy conditions at Donington to finish the session with a 1.55.406.

But the Reve Ekerold Honda Racing rider was still a distant three seconds off the quickest time of the session, set by Lightspeed Kawasaki’s Davide Giugliano.

David Checa, brother of Carlos, ended the session with the second fastest time, and former 125 Grand Prix World Champion Arnaud Vincent rounded off the top three.

Many of the big names decided not to chance it in the dismal conditions and only completed a few laps of the Leicestershire circuit.
