Scott Redding wins at Albacete

Scott Redding won last weekend’s Catalan Regional Championship GP125 race to set himself up for the next round of the prestigious Spanish Championship at the same venue this weekend.

It was Scott Redding’s first competitive ride since the end of July but he dominated proceedings, smashing the Alvaro Bautista’s lap record in practice and again the race to win the 16-lap event by over 30s from Julian Miralles.

Scott Redding said: “Even though I had a good lead on the field, I kept pushing hard because I’d not been on a bike in a while and I know that this weekend’s Spanish championship round is going to have a lot more competition with some GP riders in the line-up.”

Redding’s Blusens Aprilia team-mate Stefan Bradl was absent from the regional race but will be back in action this weekend.

So far this season, Scott Redding has had to ride to ‘team-orders’ with strict instructions not to pass the German.

In the last round at Valencia, Redding stuck to his team’s wishes and followed race winner Bradl across the line, just 0.035secs adrift.

But this weekend he’s been told that no longer applies following news that Stefan Bradl has a contract with another team for 2008.
