Estoril MotoGP: Danny Webb fifth, Corsi wins

1 of 1

Danny web has taken his best GP finish so far with a fifth position at the Estoril GP, while Simone Corsi took the win.

It was a difficult race for the British contingent with crashes and engine problems affecting all three.

Bradley Smith was running strong and looked set to take third position until he highsided out in spectacular style at the chicane with 11 laps to go.

With Smith out British hopes turned to Danny Webb who managed to recover from earlier gear problems to put the pace back on and take a career best fifth place behind his team-mate Steve Bonsey.

Simone Corsi had to fight hard for his win with both Nicolas Terol and Joan Olive taking regular turns at the front. The later half of the race saw Corsi and Olive break away but Olive just couldn’t keep Corsi behind him and had to settle for second.

Britain’s Scott Reading was also running well working his way through the lower part of the field when he ran on in to the gravel and never managed to recover.
