Valentino Rossi unsure on Qatar night race

Seven-times world champion Valentino Rossi has spoken about his reservations about the historic night race in Qatar that will start the 2008 MotoGP world championship.

Rossi’s first chance to gauge the new multi-million pound floodlight project at the Losail International Circuit will come during a two-day test session in Doha on February 28.

Loris Capirossi and James Toseland have already given their approval to plans to run the first race of ’08 at night under floodlights on March 9.

But Rossi has said he will reserve judgement on the plans until he has tested his factory Fiat Yamaha YZR-M1 later next month

He said: “The night Qatar race will be very interesting. At this moment I don’t much like the idea. But for the future I think it would be good. I understand that many sports are held at night, so as long as the lights work well it should be good.”
