Misano World Superbikes: Neukirchner takes race one

1 of 1

Max Neukirchner has dispelled the myth that Misano is a Ducati cricuit by taking an impressive win from 10th place on the grid.

Ruben Xaus lead the majority of the race but faded towards the end with Troy Corser working his way through the field to take the lead by lap 14.

But Neukirchner followed Corser up through the order, working his way through the Ducati’s to take the lead away from Corser three laps later, holding it to the flag.

Troy Bayliss took the hole shot and lead for the first lap but he quickly dropped back to fifth fighting back eventually to take the final place on the podium.

Xaus eventually finished the race in fourth, while team-mate Max Biaggi had been fighting at the front when Michel Fabrizio left his breaking a little too late and skittled both of them off in to the gravel.
