Misano World Superbikes: Xaus and Biaggi make it a Sterilgarda 1-2

1 of 1

It was a Sterilgarda 1-2 for the second World Superbike race at Misano as Ruben Xaus and Max Biaggi beat off the two Troys to top the podium.

The race was marred by a red flag after just two laps when Karl Muggeridge’s bike dropped oil over the track, but the restart proved to be yet another exciting race from Misano.

Troy Bayliss and Troy Corser dominated, swapping positions several times throughout the 24 laps but it was the persistence of Ruben Xaus that saw him hold third for most of the race then slowly work his way to the front.

Max Biaggi looked like he was dropping off in the middle of the race but he pulled it back and benefitted from mistakes from both Corser and Bayliss as they slid the front and ran wide in exactly the same place one lap apart.

Noriyuki Haga found his pace late and looked like he could challenge for the front, but he failed to keep it up and couldn’t get any higher than fourth ahead of a recovered Troy Corser.
