ACU Suzuki GSX-R600 Trophy to support British MotoGP

The Suzuki GSX-R600 Trophy is to get a boost of two extra rounds for 2008 after the championship was invited to support the British MotoGP.

It was thought that some of the original double headers would have to be changed to just a single race but now an agreement has been made to increase the championship from 10 races to 12.

Now in its second year, the GSX-R600 Trophy will now have added value for the competitors who will pay the same £12,900 championship fee they would have for the 10 rounds.

For this they receive a race prepared Suzuki GSX-R600, Dainese leathers, boots, gloves, Dunlop tyres and entry fees all included in the price.

Dave Luscombe, from organising club ACU, said: “It is great that we can now keep all our original rounds and the support races at MotoGP.

“I need to say a big thank you to Dunlop who has agreed to supply tyres for 12 rounds instead of 10 at no additional cost. That was one of the key factors in allowing the championship to expand.”

Apart from being able to show case themselves in front of the MotoGP paddock and crows, some of the top riders from this season will get to be wild card entrants in the GSX-R750 Cup, which runs as a support race for the World Superbike Championship.

To complete the season on a high the Suzuki GSX-R600 Trophy winner will race the Rizla Suzuki British Superbike at the Race of the Year at Mallory Park.

The ACU Suzuki GSX-R Trophy season starts on May 4-5 at Cadwell Park.
