MotoGP: Casey Stoner not shocked by Jorge Lorenzo form

Reigning MotoGP Casey Stoner has said he isn’t shocked by the impressive start Spanish rookie Jorge Lorenzo has made to his MotoGP career.

With one win, three podiums and three pole positions in his first four races, Lorenzo only trails series leader Dani Pedrosa by seven-points going into this weekend’s fifth round at Le Mans in France.

Factory Ducati rider Stoner, who was back on the podium after a shaky spell in Shanghai earlier this month, says he isn’t surprised at all by the early premier class form shown by the Fiat Yamaha rider.

Stoner, who raced Lorenzo previously in the 125 class, said: “I’ve been racing against the rookies for years, I know they are fast.

“There is a lot testing compared to the past so when you arrive at the first race you’ve already done half a season so if they are not comfortable with the bikes by then there is something wrong. Jorge has done a good job so far but I expected this.”
