Donington Park British Superbikes: Shane Byrne does the double

Airwaves Ducati rider Shane Byrne has won the second race at the Donington Park round of the British Superbike champiosnhip after Honda rider Leon Haslam lead for 18 laps.

Haslam lead from the very first lap after passing James Ellison on the Hydrex Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade. Haslam went on to lead the race for 18 of the 20 laps before being passed by championship leader Shane Byrne at the Melbourne Loop.

Shane Byrne had to fight from eighth place at the beginning of the race after he didn’t get the start he had hoped for. By lap 17 Shakey was up to second after passing HM Plant Honda rider Cal Crutchlow.

Rizla Suzuki rider Tom Sykes struggled in the second race and could only manage a sixth position.

Shane Byrne now leads the British Superbike championship by 68 points.
