TANDRAGEE, CO ARMAGH, SATURDAY

Irish road racing has been left reeling from the death of Dubliner Martin Finnegan at the Annual Tandragee 100 in Co Armagh on Saturday.

Finnegan had been lying second to Keith Amor and just ahead of Ryan Farquhar when tragedy struck on the second lap of the 600 race.

Racing was abandoned by the organising North Armagh club following this accident in which three spectators were hurt.

Somewhat ironically Finnegan had scored his first ever success at this particular circuit earlier in the day when he beat Farquhar by 0.07 seconds in the two part open race.

In the 250 race victory went to Michael Dunlop who had less than two seconds to spare over Darren Burns.
