Valencia MotoGP: Toseland to start from fifth at final round

1 of 1

James Toseland has qualified in fifth place for the start of the final MotoGP race of the year with Casey Stoner taking pole.

Nicky Hayden lead for the majority of the session but with 13 minutes to go Stoner put in a stunning lap to take him to the top of the sheets, where he stayed until the flag.

Hayden was then relegated to the final place on the front row with a late flying lap from his team-mate Dani Pedrosa.

Toseland jumped up to fourth fastest with nine minutes to go but ultimately had to settle for fifth ahead of Randy De Puniet as his team-mate Colin Edwards jumped up to fourth.

Valentino Rossi had a poor qualifying session using all his soft qualifying tyres early on in the session when it looked like it might rain, leaving him with nothing to attack with later on. He will start sunday’s race from 10th on the grid.
