Valencia MotoGP: Simoncelli takes 250GP win

1 of 1

Marco Simoncelli has taken an incredible win at the final 250 GP of the year at Valencia.

The Gilera rider worked his way through the field after a bad start to take the lead by the half way mark and held it to the flag despite some serious harassment by Mika Kallio.

Kallio looked like he could take the win from Simoncelli in the final 250 race for KTM but he lost the front of the orange bike on the last lap and could only limp home in 11th.

Second place eventually went to Yuki Takahashi who put in an incredible display to work his way through the pack to get the only podium position for Honda all season.

Alvaro Bautista took third after yo-yoing back and forth in the top 10 throughout the race.

Julian Simon spent most of the race in the leading pack, but his KTM gave up the ghost with eight laps to go.
