Nine time world champion Valentino Rossi has completed his first test onboard the Ducati GP12 at Jerez today. Rossi will campaign the all-new bike in 2012 when technical regulations in MotoGP change from the current 800cc engine limit to 1000cc maximum.

Test riders Franco Battiaini and Vittoriano Guareschi gave the bike its first shake down test at the Spanish circuit on Thursday in preparation for Rossi first ride on the bike today. Rossi’s team-mate Nicky Hayden wasn’t present at the test, but will get his first test onboard the GP12 tomorrow.

Ducati has released a short video and pictures of today’s test with the most obvious difference on the new bike being the under slung swing arm which differs from the current GP11 bike.
