British rider Jonathan Rea has completed his first laps on board Casey Stoner’s factory Honda RC213V machine at a cool and windy Brno this morning.

Rea is replacing injured reigning world champion Stoner, who is preparing for surgery on the ankle he badly damaged in a qualifying crash at the recent Indianapolis round.

The 25-year-old will test in the Czech Republic today and then join HRC for a two-day test at the Motorland Aragon track in Spain next month.

The Ten Kate Honda rider is expected to replace Stoner in the forthcoming Misano and Motorland Aragon with no clear indication yet of how long the Australian will be out of action for.

Rea did an initial six-lap run on the RC213V and is currently back out on track.
